Clinical supervision
For psychotherapists and mental health professionals
I offer supervision to both newly qualified and experienced psychotherapists. My aim is to support you in refining your clinical thinking, deepening your therapeutic work, and navigating the complexities of practice. Alongside this, I provide space to reflect on your evolving professional identity and the emotional texture of the work, helping you to sustain a practice that feels both ethically grounded and personally meaningful.
Aims of supervision
Supervision is a space to think together about your clinical work, to deepen your capacity to understand what may be happening beneath the surface in the therapeutic encounter. Rooted in psychoanalytic principles, supervision is not just about technique - it’s about developing a way of thinking. The focus is on helping you make sense of complex emotional material, attend to unconscious dynamics, and hold in mind the patient’s internal world while also being attuned to your own. Supervision offers a place to consider therapeutic boundaries, ethical questions, and the emotional demands of the work itself. Supervision, at its best, is not about finding the “right” answers, but about cultivating a capacity to reflect, tolerate uncertainty, and grow in confidence as a clinician.
My approach
My supervisory style is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in psychodynamic thinking. I aim to provide a containing space where you can bring your uncertainties, questions, and dilemmas without fear of judgment. I encourage an attitude of curiosity - towards the patient, the therapeutic relationship, and yourself as a clinician. I also pay attention to how the supervisory relationship itself may mirror or illuminate aspects of the clinical work, and I welcome reflections on the process between us. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic thinking and provides a space to reflect on your therapeutic work in depth
Who I work with
Whether you're in the early stages of developing a private practice or have been working for many years, supervision can offer a reflective anchor for your clinical work and professional development.
I work with:
Established psychotherapists and counsellors in private practice
Early-career clinicians looking for supervisory support after qualification
Trainees seeking additional supervision to complement and deepen their training
Therapists from other modalities interested in integrating a psychodynamic perspective into their clinical work
Counsellors considering a psychodynamic training
Experienced practitioners seeking consultation of single cases
What to expect
Supervision sessions usually centre around clinical material from individual sessions. However, the focus can shift as needed - to practice-related dynamics, ethical dilemmas, or reflections on professional identity. While I generally offer ongoing, open-ended work to support the development of a trusting supervisory relationship, I’m also open to short-term, time-limited supervision - for example, for trainees, specific roles, or individual case consultations.
Practicalities
Supervision sessions are usually held weekly, either in person in Putney or Victoria, or online. Depending on your needs and my availability, it may also be possible to meet less frequently.
You're very welcome to get in touch if you'd like to discuss availability, fees, or to explore whether we might work well together..
